photopolymer, steel, wire, 60 x 50 x 50 cm, 2024

Svetlana Alexievich wrote in her book War Does Not Have a Woman's Face: "If it were possible to write a book (about war) it would make you sick." I think she succeeded. And after a year of doctoral studies, after a year of books about war that made me physically sick, I thought about the challenge of creating a sculpture that would make everyone instantly sick. It would make anyone sick, regardless of age, nationality, political views, or even military rank.
This is a sculpture of me sitting on a chair, holding two types of improvised explosive devices in both hands. Someone had to booby-trap me and do it in such a way that I could not free myself. The fail-safe is my firm grip. But it is only a matter of time before I run out of strength and can no longer hold the traps in my hands. The only thing that gives my hands strength is the hope of salvation..
The sculpture was created with the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic)
